Cant-Arte
Through participatory arts Cant-Arte project aims to create an inclusive experience for people with fewer opportunities; to generate the possibility to act in an environment where these young people act on equal terms and can explore their artistic capacities and learn about participatory tools within non-formal education that stimulate their critical awareness and increase their
active participation in democratic decision-making.
Participatory arts are proven to help develop language skills, improve self-esteem and increase levels of self-confidence and critical thinking. The exchange is based on an intercultural, anti-racist and intersectional approach, so we will at all times create safe and inclusive spaces where all participants can express themselves freely without fear of judgement.
Therefore, Cant-ARTE project aims to offer a different artistic experience to all participating youth with a groundbreaking and participatory approach through which they can learn theatre, music and creative writing techniques to promote inclusion and social transformation.
The main objectives of Cant-ARTE project are the following:
- Raising awareness of the European values on which the European Union project is based (equality, inclusion, freedom, human dignity, democracy).
- Knowledge in a participatory, active and experiential way of the role of theatre, creative writing and music in fostering social inclusion and stimulating community transformation.
- Emphasise the need for sustainability in all artistic practices.
- To foster critical thinking, a spirit of initiative and autonomy, a better knowledge of oneself and one's society through the tools of non-formal education.
Our aim is to create the possibility of empowering young participants with fewer opportunities, providing them with reinforcement tools to understand the process and the value of participating in exchanges
25-30 September 2023
- Activity in Solórzano (Cantabria); from 24th to 30th september 2023. We will host 28 participants from 5 countries aged between 18 and 30. We will ensure a gender balance during the mobility. Participation is open exclusively to young people with fewer opportunities, except for group leaders. Therefore, we will include everyone regardless of ethnicity, colour, sexuality and socio-economic obstacles. We aim to create an environment where everyone shares equally and where participants feel free and safe to open up, share and express themselves. The activities are based on the Drums for Peace methodology developed since 2001. The methodology uses participatory arts (music, dance, theatre, circus, etc.) as a catalyst for communication and cooperation and as an excellent tool for the active involvement of all young people with fewer opportunities to participate.
